COLOMBIAN / FOREIGN ROASTERS

  • Download here forms
  • Certificate of existence and legal representation, dated no more than 30 days.
  • Copy of the identity card of the legal representative.
  • RUT not older than 30 days. COLOMBIAN
  • Tax Identification Number (Tax Id). FOREIGN
  • Document proving the authority of the person who will sign the contract.
  • In case the owner of the trademark is different from the roaster, it will be necessary to attach a copy of the legal documentation of the owner of the private trademark.

According to the countries where the brand is marketed, the following will be required:

  • Designation of Origin: CAN countries (Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia and Peru).
  • Protected Geographical Indication: European Union, United Kingdom and Switzerland countries.

Once the application requirements are verified, the request for the elaboration of a license contract is presented before the Trademark and Patent Committee, by means of which the authorization to use the “Colombian Coffee” logo is granted.

With the approval of the Committee, the license agreement is prepared for signature by the respective parties.

1. Roaster Registration

2. Submit forms and legal documentation

4. Trademark and patent committee - request for approval

5. Preparation and signing of the license agreement

SUBMITTAL: You should send your digital designs to propiedad.intelectual@cafecolombia.com.
REVISION: The coordination of Intellectual Property verifies the adequate use of the Colombian Coffee logo, seals of Denomination of Origin, PGI and descriptors.
APPROVAL: If the package meets all requirements, the design is approved for printing.

SEND PERIODIC SAMPLES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR

PERIODIC SAMPLES: The roaster must send samples of all brands under active contract.
MAIL REMINDER: The Intellectual Property coordination will send a reminder that includes the deadline date, quantity and physical address to which the samples should be sent.
VERIFICATION: The purpose of the samples is to verify the quality and origin of the coffee, in addition to verifying the proper use of the seals on the packaging.

CONFIRM RENEWAL OF LICENSE AGREEMENT

TERM: The agreement will be in effect for one year.
RENEWAL: The Intellectual Property Coordination will send a communication informing that the agreement must be renewed. The licensee, upon this communication, must send its confirmation.

PAYMENT OF INVOICE FOR REIMBURSEMENT OF ADMINISTRATIVE EXPENSES

REIMBURSEMENT: You will have to pay for the reimbursement of administrative expenses generated by the quality analysis,
the fee indicated in Annex 10 of your agreement for each brand and territory included therein (Annex 5).
PAYMENT: Within the first 15 days of January each year.

TRADEMARKS AND TERRITORIES UPDATE

UPDATE: You should include or withdraw territories in your contract whenever necessary. Only territories where they are actually being marketed should be included.
LIST OF TERRITORIES: In order to use the Colombian Coffee logo, it is necessary that you inform the countries where the coffee brands authorized in your contract are being sold.
REMINDER: Please note that the reimbursement of administrative expenses is charged taking into account the brands and territories authorized in the agreement. Hence, you should only include those territories where you are effectively selling your coffee and making use of the logo.

SUBMITTAL OF QUARTERLY SALES REPORT

You must submit sales reports for each brand and territory according to the format included in Annex 11 of your license agreement.
